A Town Board meeting of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on

Monday, December 30, 2019 in the Marion Town Hall at 1pm

 

PRESENT:         Nick Deming, Supervisor

Joan Fisher, Councilwoman

Ronald Lonneville, Councilman

Debbie Smith, Councilwoman

LaVerne Bliek, Councilman

 

ABSENT:

OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE:  Kathy Cauwels, Town of Marion Principal Account Clerk; Tim Boerman, Highway Superintendent; Duane Smeatin, Code Enforcement Officer; Jim Hoffman; Barbara Nittyo; Jolene Bender; Paul Bender.

Supervisor Deming called the meeting to order at 1pm and asked for a roll call.

Town Justice, Samuel Bonafede administered Oath of Offices for the following newly elected officials.

All newly elected official terms start on January 1, 2020.

 

Town Business: 

Councilman Lonneville spoke about the Marion Town Hall Reserve Account.  Councilman Lonneville would like to use funds from this account to repair the Town Hall.  A suggestion was made to discuss this again during a Town Board Workshop in the near future.

 

Next, Councilwoman Fisher asked to discuss the Town of Marion’s goals for 2020.  The Town Board will discuss this at a Town Board Workshop.

 

Councilman Lonneville stated that the Restore New York Grant will be finishing up very soon.  The town store fronts look greatly improved.

 

Councilwoman Fisher wanted to say thank you to Tim Boerman, Highway Superintendent for coordinating with Tim Holahan, Boy Scouts Troop Leader for getting new picnic tables made for the Town Park.  The Boy Scouts are working hard to get this done over the winter months.

 

Councilwoman Smith stated that she will be working with the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce to increase awareness of the Chamber within the Town of Marion.

 

Supervisor Deming stated that an information meeting was held at the Palmyra-Macedon High School to discuss the future Regional Waste Water Treatment Facility.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to the Principal Account Clerk.

 

 

Resolution #121219 Authorize Supervisor to Sign Agreement with Labella to Remove Gas Tank @ WWTP

 

On a motion by Councilwoman Smith and seconded by Councilwoman Fisher

The following resolution was tabled.

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board authorizes the Supervisor to sign the agreement with Labella to remove gas tank at the WWTP; and

 

WHEREAS, it has been discovered there is an underground gas tank and pump at the WWTP that needs to be removed; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED, tank removal to be expensed out of 81304.07.000.004 at a cost not to exceed $4700; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to Jeff Cragg and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

 

Resolution #121319 Authorize Supervisor Jolene Bender to Become Signer on Town of Marion Bank Accounts at Lyons National Bank

BE IT RESOLVED,  that the Marion Town Board authorizes Supervisor Jolene Bender to become a signer on Town of Marion bank accounts at Lyons National Bank effective January 1, 2020.; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to Lyons National Bank and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #121419 Payment of Claims

On a motion by Councilman Bliek and seconded by Councilwoman Fisher

WHEREAS, the Marion Town Board has received and audited the following claims; now

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized to pay said claims upon receipt of the signed abstracts of audited claims from the Town Clerk.
