Marion Municipal Room

An Organization workshop of the Town Board of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the Marion Municipal Room.

Supervisor Deming called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.

 

PRESENT:    LaVerne Bliek, Councilman

Debbie Smith, Councilwoman

Joan Fisher, Councilwoman

Ronald Lonneville, Councilman

Nick Deming, Supervisor

 

ABSENT:   

 

OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE: Perry Howland, Sun & Record; Reporter from, Times of Wayne County; Duane Smeatin, Zoning Officer; Jeff Cragg, WWTP Operator; Caryn Devlin, Town Historian; Carrie Deming; resident; Bob Ledgerwood; resident, Mark & Sarah Deming; guest, Sam Bonafede; Town of Marion Justice.

Supervisor Deming asked for a Roll call.

Supervisor Deming started the Pledge of Allegiance.

Supervisor Deming welcomed the guests.

Judge Bonafede gave an oath of office to Nick Deming; Supervisor, Joan Fisher; Councilwoman, Debbie Smith; Councilwoman and Heidi Jensen, Town Clerk.

 

TOWN BUSINESS:

Joan Fisher spoke about the contacts she has made with the Town of Walworth Recreation Department as well as the Marion Elementary School. A discussion was had on different ideas she has for future Recreation department activities for both children and adults.

Ron Lonneville discussed ongoing renovations to Jennie’s House.

Nick Deming discussed the School Crossing Guard. A guard is needed for Tuesday mornings.  Nick Deming and Debbie Smith will take turns covering this shift.

Supervisor Deming gave a list of who would be the committee chairs for 2018. They are as follows:

Resolution #010118 Authorize Highway Superintendent to purchase John Deere 1550 Mower

On a motion by Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Bliek

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board authorizes the Highway Superintendent to purchase a John Deere 1550 Terrain Cut Mower and discharge mower deck at a cost not to exceed $20,908.11; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to the Highway Superintendent, and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010218 Authorize Re-Appointment of John Bovet to Library Board

On a motion by Councilwoman Smith and seconded by Councilman Bliek

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

Nays: 0

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board re-appoints John Bovet, 3717 South Main Street, Marion, to the Library Board effective January 1, 2018 thru December 31, 2022; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to John Bovet, Library Manager, and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010318 Authorize Re-Appointment of Fred Walker to Planning Board

On a motion by Councilman Bliek and seconded by Councilman Lonneville

 

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

Nays: 0

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board re-appoints Fred Walker, 4375 Smith Road, Marion, to the Planning Board effective January 1, 2018 thru December 31, 2022; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to Fred Walker, Chairman of the Planning Board, and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010418 Authorize Re-Appointment of John Lonnevile, Alternate to Zoning Board

On a motion by Councilman Bliek and seconded by Councilwoman Smith

 

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board re-appoints John Lonneville, 4033 Erotus Ave, Marion, to the Zoning Board as Alternate effective January 1, 2018 thru December 31, 2022; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to John Lonneville and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010518 Authorize Re-Appointment of Martha Rich to Zoning Board

On a motion by Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Bliek

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board re-appoints Martha Rich, 3501 Newark Road, Marion, to the Zoning Board effective January 1, 2018 thru December 31, 2022; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to Martha Rich and the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010618 Authorize Town Officials to Attend Training School

On a motion by Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Bliek

 

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

Nays: 0

The following resolution was adopted

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board authorizes the following:

$150.00 appropriated from Account 10104.1.0.013

150.00 appropriated from Account 12204.1.0.016

150.00 appropriated from Account 14104.1.0.016

AND BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board authorizes all necessary expenses as a town charge; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to the Principal Account Clerk.

 

Resolution #010718 Payment of Claims

On a motion by Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Bliek

 

ADOPTED:    Ayes: 5 Bliek, Smith, Lonneville, Fisher, Deming

The following resolution was adopted

 

WHEREAS the Marion Town Board has received and audited the following claims; NOW

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized to pay said claims upon receipt of the signed abstracts of audited claims from the Town Clerk.
